Review: Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 3 Palette + Swatches
By Trecee Hutchinson - 12:37:00 PM
Makeup Revolution has fast been becoming one of my favorite drugstore brands. The palette that I'm going to show you today was my first purchase from the brand when I found out Ulta was going to be carrying the products, but I have purchased so many items since then.
The Iconic 3 Redemption palette initally caught my eye because I had read reviews that it was a dead on dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. Now I was never really interested in getting the Naked Palettes because at $54 they just didn't appeal to me. I did however like the colors in the Naked 3 palette, so when I found out that these were only 7 bucks I jumped at the chance to try these out.
Let's first take a look at what the Makeup Revolution website says.
"THE ultimate palettes with ultra high payoff.
A perfect mix of pearl, shimmer and matte shades. Totally collectable and a pure sellout"
Availability: Ulta or Makeuprevolution.com

Now lets look at Swatches:

Review:
I will be reviewing these products on a scale of 1-5 on Packaging, Pigmentation and Performance
Packaging: 3
There is nothing really special about this packaging. It's basic black packaging with gold lettering on it. The whole entire palette of 12 shades is .49 Oz. It also comes with little foam sponge applicators. The shades do not have names so thats sort of a negative in my opinion. I like to know the shade names just in case anyone ask what color I have on. I also think a nice brush would have made this palette so much better from a packaging perspective.
Pigmentation: 4
As you can see from the swatches, for a drugstore shadow these are very pigmented. The swatches applied to full opacity after one swipe which is always a good things The palette is mostly shimmers, but there are four mattes and they have really good pigmentation as well. The shimmers are what drew me to the palette and they did not disappoint in pigmentation.
Performance:4
These shadows performed really well underneath a primer. They are blendable and I think as a whole, the color selection in the palette is complementary. This palette performs well as an everyday palette for me. The shimmers tend to run warm whereas the mattes are really cool, which creates balance in the palette and when creating look using just this palette. I think that it's easier for cool matte shades to become muddy looking really quickly, so thats the only con. I wish there were some warm matte shades in the palette. The shadows are also really long wearing. The look that you will see below was on for at least 6 hours and my eyeshadows didn't fade at all. I have had this palette for a few months and I get compliments everytime I wear it
Final thoughts:
This palette is an awesome value. From other reviewers, it seems to be very comparable to the Naked 3. I can also say that that the shadows perform amazing for a 7 dollar palette. If you don't want to shell out the cash for the Naked palette, get this one you will not be disappointed. Below is a look I created using this palette for a random night out with my girls.
Comment below your thoughts on this palette or if you prefer the Naked 3.
